Ginsanity Survey Results
Thanks to all our members who took time filling out our survey over January. We learnt a lot of important information about what our members want. We will use this information to provide you with a better service & product. In the interests of transparency we have run through a few of the responses and give you a few of our thoughts.
We have had our hands tied this year by Covid and other restrictions that has impeded our ability to get some of the gins we wanted. It has also led to us having only Virtual Events which has meant it has been harder for us to speak to and understand our customers. We hope we can run some Ginsanity Events in 2021 during which we will of course give back to our loyal members!
Overall, how satisfied are you with Ginsanity?
Over 90% of our members were extremely satisfied or very satisfied with our service. We obviously hope that all our members will be extremely satisfied, and have received some useful feedback on how to improve the box and overall experience.
*Members selecting other were often new members who felt they had not received enough boxes to make an informed decision
How would you rate the value for money of the Gin Club?
Just over 75% of respondents suggested that the value of the Gin Club is excellent or above average.
We hope we can find ways to improve what goes in the box both in terms of volume and quality of extras. We spend a lot of time sourcing quality and award winning gins from around the world to fit within the budget we have - especially given the tax on alcohol and spirits in Hong Kong. We will continue this process through 2021 and beyond alongside other ideas in order to improve the value for money of the box.
How important is it to you to try gins from different parts of the world?
This was unsurprising to us, given our experience in the industry and our current inability to travel. In 2021 we have more gins coming from around the world including several countries we have not visited yet - including February’s gin which was from Slovenia.
How interested are you in trying different styles of gin? i.e. Sloe Gin
Based on these responses we will look for styles of gin including but not limited to Sloe Gin, Navy Gins & Barrel Aged Gins. This does not mean we will completely abandon the traditional styles of gin. As nothing beats a crisp Gin & Tonic in the summer!
How important to you is it to try new tonics each month?
We were pleased to see this response as tonic makes up such a large portion of any gin & tonic, it is important to find flavours and creations that contrast and compare with each month's gin. We will continue to find these tonics - in particular we have something really interesting lined up for April!
What product would you prefer as extra/treats?
The extra’s and treats are what we consider our achilles heel.
These answers will help us find better ways of filling the boxes up and meeting your expectations. In particular we will find means to add cocktail ingredients and mixers to each box - as well as barware from time to time. The desire for cocktail ingredients and extra tonics and mixers is unsurprising as over 80% of our members try the suggested cocktails this month.
Suggestions
This is a small sample of some of the suggestions we received from our members, if you would like us to respond to your own suggestions or have any other questions please get in touch.
Recycling/Packaging
A few members suggested reusing or returning the boxes. Unfortunately the cost of the logistics are significantly higher than the cost of the box as such this makes it economically unviable for us to provide this service.
The boxes themselves are made of recycled material and most cardboard is sorted and recycled at landfill sites in Hong Kong.
We try to limit our wastage and environmental impact which is why we try not to use additional plastics-such as bubble wrap in the boxes and use canned tonic when possible. In terms of the paper packaging this is the minimum amount where we and our logistics partner both feel we can comfortably and safely deliver the boxes.
Future Gins
We also had multiple suggestions on countries which we should get gin from, rest assured that we have taken these into consideration a few members will be very happy with next month's gin!
Beyond that we are currently making sure we can meet demand each month, hopefully as Covid restrictions ease distilleries will start to ramp up production and logistics will not be such a challenge.
Events
We started our business as an events company, I hope many of our members had a great time at our first (and only) in person event. Since then event opportunities such as Wine & Dine (twice), Ginsanity 2 and other ideas have not been possible due to a combination of HK Protests & Covid.
We do have some dates lined up for both Covid secure venues and in an ideal world a regular Ginsanity event. We will let you know as soon as restrictions are lifted.
We also offer virtual events for corporate companies, and will roll these out as options for our members too.
Ultimately we hope as a club we can be more interactive, short term this may be have to be online.
